Bio

Homegrown left-back Brandon Fleming was rewarded with a new long-term contract in the summer of 2022.

Joining the academy at Under-10s, the Hull-born defender signed his first professional contract in February 2017 and made his senior debut in an EFL Cup tie at Doncaster Rovers later that year.

He also spent part of that 2017/18 campaign out on loan at Gainsborough Trinity, making three National League North appearances during a brief stay at The Northolme.

First-team football came early in 2018/19, with Fleming again starting in the League Cup for ties with Sheffield United and Derby County, while a first Championship start came in December when he lined up against Millwall at The Den, aged 19.

A further three league appearances came Fleming’s way before the end of the campaign, all from the bench, and he continued his progression in 2019/20 with seven games under Grant McCann - four in the Championship - before joining League One Bolton Wanderers on loan in January 2020.

The beneficial temporary spell at the University of Bolton Stadium saw him feature ten times in the second half of the season.

He developed further in 2020/21, making nine appearances in all competitions for the Tigers, with three of those outings coming in League One.

The arrival of Shota Arveladze in January 2022 breathed new life into his City career as he made the left wing-back berth his own in the second half of that season.

Starting 15 of our final 19 games, Fleming contributed three assists and helped keep eight clean sheets in 17 appearances as Championship survival was secured with four games to spare. His all-action displays saw him named in the division’s Team of the Week on three occasions and scoop our February and March Player of the Month awards.

In January 2023, Fleming joined League One side Oxford United on loan. Making his U's debut in the FA Cup against Arsenal, the left-back made 15 appearances in total.

Featuring in the Carabao Cup fixture against Doncaster, Fleming spent the majority of the 2023/24 campaign out on loan at League One side Shrewsbury Town, making 10 appearances in total, before featuring 20 times for Doncaster on loan in the first half of the 2024/25 season.
