Grant McCann said he was pleased with Di’Shon Bernard’s performance in the goalless draw against Bournemouth at the MKM Stadium.
Playing alongside Jacob Greaves for the second week in a row, Bernard helped the Tigers keep one of the most dangerous attacks in the Championship quiet in a game of few real chances.
“He’s a bit of a throwback, isn’t he?” said McCann when asked about the 20-year-old’s performance against the Cherries.
“He just loves defending.
“He loves getting his body in the way, winning headers and the physical side of the game.”
Bernard made his league debut for the Tigers a week prior against Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic, and it didn’t get any easier for him at the weekend as he came up against Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke.
“Him and Jacob (Greaves) have come up against probably two of the best strikers in the division in the last two weeks in (Aleksandar) Mitrovic and (Dominic) Solanke.
“They are two young centre-backs and I thought they both did well.”
