Docherty: ‘It’s A Big Game’

28 September 2021

Greg Docherty says the team are determined to secure their first home win of the season as they prepare for the visit of Blackpool to the MKM Stadium.

The Tigers are looking to end their run of three consecutive defeats in the Championship, while Blackpool come into tonight’s game having secured back-to-back wins against Middlesbrough and Barnsley.

“It’s a big game,” said Docherty.

“There’s no hiding from it, it’s a big game for us.

“We’ve got two home games coming up (against Blackpool and Middlesbrough) and we need to turn our form around.

“We can analyse this game (against Stoke City), but there’s no time for us to dwell on it.”

The Tigers will be hoping to record their first win against the Seasiders at the MKM Stadium since September 2004.

However, Docherty believes the Tigers are more than capable of securing a positive result if they’re able to be more ruthless in front of goal.

“We need to get back to being ruthless and get that cutting edge back,” Docherty added.

“When you get the first goal, it puts you in a strong position.

“However, you can never be comfortable in the Championship, as you can get punished at any moment.

“It only takes one lapse of concentration and you get punished.

“We’re learning that at the moment."
