Cartwright Signs New Deal

2 February 2021

Young goalkeeper Harvey Cartwright has signed a new three-year contract, with a Club option of a further year.

The 18-year-old, who joined the Tigers at Under-13s level, made his senior debut in the Papa John’s Trophy against Leicester City Under-21s back in September.

The Grimsby-born shot-stopper has also been capped at international youth level, playing for England’s Under-18s in a 3-2 win in Austria in October 2019.

Head Coach Grant McCann said: “Harvey is a really good up and coming young goalkeeper.

“He’s had a taste of first-team football already and we see him developing into a very good goalkeeper at this football club.

“We’re really pleased to see him sign a three-year deal and the length of contract shows you how highly we value him.

“It’s a credit to the work Baz (Goalkeeping Coach Barry Richardson) has put into him and working with people like George Long and Matt Ingram every day is making him better.”

Barry Richardson added: “Harvey’s been up with the first team for a year and is coming along very nicely.

“We’re really pleased with how he’s progressing in all aspects, in how he trains, how he mixes with the boys, everything.

“His all-round game is very good. He’s very calm and we will keep developing him in all areas.”
