Midfielder Harry Wood expressed his delight after helping the Under-23s secure their first victory of the season.
Wood scored a brace of penalties, before Will Jarvis scored a close-range finish in injury time, to secure the Tigers all three points against Millwall in the Professional Development League.
“I’m delighted to get on the scoresheet, but more importantly, we got the three points,” said Wood.
“It was a big aim for me at the start of the season to score more goals and to add that to my game. We were unlucky last week coming back from 3-0 down to then lose 4-3, but I’m happy we got the win.
“I thought we were the better team first half, but we just didn’t have that cutting edge in the final third, which we showed in the second half, which was pleasing.”
Wood featured for the full game alongside first-team midfielders Andy Cannon and Tom Huddlestone, and admits it was a great experience to learn off the pair.
“It was a great experience playing alongside both Tom and Andy in the heart of the midfield; I loved every minute of it!” added Wood.
“I’ve learned a lot off both of them as they have loads of experience. Tom has played in the Premier League while Andy has got over 200 Football League appearances under his belt and I try and take parts from their game and implement it into mine.
“It’s good that we got the three points, but we now need to focus onto the next game now against Bristol City and continue after this positive performance.”
