Tyler Smith joined Hull City in August 2021, signing an initial two-year deal at the MKM Stadium with the Tigers, with a Club option of a further year.

Rising through the ranks of hometown club Sheffield United, the forward was loaned to then-National League side Barrow for first-team football in July 2018, aged 19.

He posted a return of 10 goals in 23 league matches during his six-month stay at Holker Street.

The young striker’s exploits in Cumbria saw him climb two divisions for his next loan spell, linking up with Grant McCann’s Doncaster in January 2019.

Twelve of his 14 Rovers appearances came from the bench and he gained further third-tier experience in 2019/20, on loan at Bristol Rovers and Rochdale.

He was back in League One the following season, this time with Swindon, and scored 10 goals in 26 matches in all competitions – seven of those strikes coming in the league.

Having made all of his professional appearances while out on loan, he finally featured for his boyhood side in this season’s 1-0 EFL Cup triumph against Carlisle.

His first appearance for the Blades also proved to be his last prior to joining the Tigers.
