Born in Hull, Mason Johnson started his two-year scholarship with his boyhood club in June 2022.

A versatile player, Johnson featured regularly for the Under-16s in the 2021/22 season and scored the winner for the Under-18s in their only pre-season fixture of that season, a 1-0 away victory against Premier League side Wolves.

Operating out wide or through the middle, Johnson has made appearances for both the Under-18s and Under-21s during his scholarship.
