Bio

Signing for the club as an eight-year-old, young defender Jacob Greaves progressed through the academy ranks to sign his first professional deal in April 2019.

Son of former Tigers defender Mark, the centre-back put pen-to-paper on a one-year deal, with a club option of a further year, having skippered the Under-18s in 2018/19.

His impressive progress in the early stages of Grant McCann's reign at the MKM Stadium ahead of the 2019/20 campaign was rewarded with a new three-year deal, which saw him commit his future to the Tigers until at least June 2022

That deal came ahead of a loan switch to League Two side Cheltenham Town, where he excelled in what was his first taste of senior football.

His outstanding performances in a Robins shirt saw him named as EFL Young Player of the Month for September 2019 before picking up the club's Player of the Month award for December 2019. He finished the campaign with 35 appearances in all competitions and helped Cheltenham reach the League Two play-offs.

Greaves had no problem stepping up to League One as he excelled in 2020/21, making 41 appearances and winning Young Player of the Year during our title-clinching campaign.

The defender played every minute of our 2021/22 Championship season and was again recognised with the club's young player prize.

Greaves was appointed vice-captain ahead of 2022/23 and made his 100th City appearance away to Swansea City. He won the club's Young Player of the Year award for a third consecutive season, scoring four goals and registering two assists in 45 appearances, featuring both at centre-back and left-back.

Netting his first career brace on his 200th career appearance, a 2-1 dramatic away win over Huddersfield Town where he was also named captain for the fixture, Greaves played 43 times during the 2023/24 campaign. With strong performances, the defender won Players' Player, Supporters' Player and Club Player of the Year awards, along with being named in the EFL Championship Team of the Season.
