Abu Kamara came off the bench to rescue Hull City a valuable point away to play-off hopefuls West Bromwich Albion.

The young winger bundled home 11 minutes from time to cancel out Isaac Price’s volley 12 minutes earlier to earn the Tigers a creditable draw heading into the international break.

City’s team showed two changes from the vital victory over Oxford United, with Regan Slater replacing the suspended Gustavo Puerta and Mason Burstow starting ahead of the benched Kamara.

Harry Vaughan and Nathan Tinsdale were also named among the substitutes, with Nordin Amrabat absent from the matchday squad.

Tony Mowbray’s men were unbeaten in five matches and made most of the early running.

Mikey Johnston twice cut in from the left, curling one effort well wide and another straight at Ivor Pandur, while a well-placed Adam Armstrong fluffed his shot from Price’s precise cross.

Burstow looped a volley wide from the edge of the box for the Tigers, who were searching for a first win at The Hawthorns since 2008, having lost on the previous eight visits.

Rubén Sellés’ side were forced to defend for much of an uneventful opening period but conceded little in the way of opportunities.

Albion’s clearest chance came six minutes before the break when Jayson Molumby checked inside Sean McLoughlin, making his 100th City league start, and cut back to Armstrong, who swept over the bar.

Torbjørn Heggem’s deep cross at the end of the half reached his opposite full-back Price, who slashed his back-post volley harmlessly wide.

City had the woodwork to thank for staying on level terms two minutes into the second half, Johnston teeing up Swift to side-foot a sweet 20-yard strike against the bar.

The visitors responded with a promising spell, Charlie Hughes lifting in a cross for Matt Crooks, who looped a header over the top.

Heggem and Price combined again for a Baggies opening – the former delivering a cross to the far post which the latter met on the volley but Pandur pushed the ball away.

Johnston lashed over before Sellés made a double switch, sending on Kamara and Kasey Palmer for Burstow and Crooks on the hour.

West Brom broke the deadlock on 67 minutes when Johnston’s corner was cleared by McLoughlin as far as Price, who steered a smart bouncing volley in off the post from 20 yards.

Lincoln came on for Slater with 15 minutes left but the Baggies still looked dangerous – Price sending a similar volley across goal and wide from another Heggem delivery from the byline.

City found a leveller with 11 minutes remaining when Lewie Coyle’s delivery into the box was nodded down by Palmer for Kamara to bundle the ball over the line from close range.

The Tigers almost took the lead when Joe Gelhardt’s curling strike was pushed out by the right hand of keeper Joe Wildsmith, who then reacted sharply to keep out Lincoln’s near-post follow-up.

Wildsmith excelled himself again in added time, denying Kamara with his legs after he had been played through one-on-one by Gelhardt to preserve his team a point.
