Under-21s defender Noah Wadsworth is happy with the current run of form the team are on after a 4-1 victory over Crewe Alexandra.

A brace from Hugh Parker and finishes from Zane Myers and Rocco Coyle saw the Tigers record back-to-back wins in the Professional Development League to create a six-point gap between themselves and third-placed Burnley to earn a play-off spot in the Northern league.

“I thought we dominated the first half,” said Wadsworth. “We came out in the second half and it took us a bit of a while to get going, but we saw out the game in the end and got the points.

“We started the season off quite rough, but we got into our stride and put 11 wins together. We did hit another rough patch around Christmas, but we have started to get back in our stride again and string a few wins together in recent weeks.”

Originally joining the Tigers in the summer following his release by Bradford City on a one-year deal, the 20-year-old has been primarily used in his natural position as a full-back. However, in the victory over Crewe, Wadsworth played in midfield alongside scholar Aidon Shehu, later slotting into the right-back spot following the introduction of goalscorer Coyle from the bench.

“I don’t think it is much different to be fair. It is just 10 times more running,” joked Wadsworth. “That is a lot harder, but it is still about playing football.”

Fully settled with life at the club and learning under Conor Sellars, Wadsworth added: “I came in the summer and settled in right away. All the lads have been proper good to me and welcomed me in; I have settled in really well.

"I knew Conor from my Bradford days and how good of a coach he was. That was what drew me to Hull in the first place.”

Spending a month out on loan at National League North side Chester earlier this season, making four league appearances, the defender spoke of how he developed over that short spell.

“It was a good experience, because you are playing against men which is proper football, and it is nice to experience that side of football.”

Looking to help the Tigers finish in the Professional Development League play-offs at the end of the campaign, Wadsworth is eager to finish the season with silverware.

“It would be massive. If we get into the play-offs, anything can happen and hopefully, we can get to the final and try and win it.”
