Defender Jake Leake has joined National League side Oldham Athletic on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
The 21-year-old came through the club’s academy system, starting at Under-12s level, and has been an unused substitute for the first team twice in his City career.
The Hull-born defender had productive spells at Boston United and Scunthorpe United before spending last season on loan at Sky Bet League Two side Tranmere Rovers, where he featured nine times in all competitions.
Leake has made nine starts for the Under-21s this season, with his most recent coming in the Tigers’ first game of 2025 at home to Coventry City.
Oldham currently sit in the National League play-offs in fifth place on 44 points after 23 games played. Micky Mellon’s side are eight points adrift from top-of-the-table Forest Green Rovers, but have three games in hand.
The Latics, who recently signed ex-City midfielder Corry Evans, welcome Aldershot Town to Boundary Park this Saturday in a 3pm kick-off.
Lead Professional Development Phase Coach Conor Sellars said: "This is an excellent opportunity for Jake to gain more first-team experience, building on the great progress he’s already made.
"Jake has been an outstanding player and a fantastic individual within the academy, setting a superb example for others. We wish him all the best during his loan spell."
We would like to wish Jake the best of luck in his time at Oldham!
