Abu Kamara was delighted to contribute to earning a point in the Sky Bet Championship as the Tigers played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at home to Leeds United.

The winger netted his first goals for the club since his summer move from Norwich City, scoring the first and final goals in the fixture at the MKM Stadium.

“I thought it was a good contest. The boys fought hard and I felt like we came away with a well deserved point,” said Kamara.

“With a boss like we have, we are never backing down right until the final whistle. It is always nice to know that our boss is always going to drive us on until the end of the game and the boys on the pitch; like the senior lads, they were always driving us on and pushing for more.

“I thought the boys stuck to the game plan well. You could see that they were well drilled and it was clear on what we had to do. Everyone was really together and I think you could see that in the performance.”

Kamara’s first finish saw the winger run onto Mason Burstow’s fantastic through pass before calmly slotting the ball over an onrushing Illan Meslier after five minutes.

After Leeds raced into a 3-1 lead in the second half, João Pedro’s fifth of the season 10 minutes from time sparked the comeback as Kamara volleyed home with a minute of normal time to go to rescue a point for Rubén Sellés’ side.

“We needed to start off fast as Leeds are a good team and once they get going, they are very hard to stop so that was the start we needed,” said Kamara on his opening goal.

“I don’t really remember how it ended up at Mason’s feet, but I saw Mason on the ball with his head up. I just made a darting run between the centre half and the full-back and he found me. I saw the keeper off his line and I just chipped it over him.

“I have gone through a tough couple of weeks so to get the two goals today is a really nice touch.

“In this league, every point counts, and you can’t take any point for granted so it is a step in the right direction for us.”
