Hull City Under-18s forward Zac Jagielka is currently enjoying his time at the academy after securing himself another two goals in a 2-2 draw against Millwall.
The Welsh youth international netted in each half to take his tally to five league goals this campaign, converting the opening goal of the game from the penalty spot before securing his brace with the equaliser at 2-1 down.
“I thought we should have won the game. I thought it was very competitive, but I thought we deserved to win overall,” said Jagielka.
“The first half was really enjoyable to play in. We kept winning second balls which meant we could play balls in-behind and get attacking. In the second half, we started a bit slow, but then we managed to pull it back so it was quite enjoyable being a striker in that team for me.
“I just like scoring goals so when I get the opportunity to put them home, I back myself to score every time.”
Son of former Everton and Sheffield United defender Phil, Zac Jagielka recently joined the Tigers from Liverpool on a two-year scholarship at the beginning of the 2024/25 campaign.
A regular feature in the number nine role, the first-year scholar is enjoying his time with the Tigers as the Under-18s travel to face Colchester United next Saturday to make it three games on the bounce unbeaten.
“I’m loving it at the moment. I just love scoring goals and it is what I keep trying to do so I am just loving my football here,” explained Jagielka.
“We are all getting on really well as a team. We are all getting to know each other and we are growing as a team. You can tell with every game.
“Even when we lost the game recently against Ipswich, we bounced back against Brentford and bounced back again against Millwall when going a goal behind. We should have won, but we will take a draw in the end.
“We just have to keep working hard, keep doing what we’re doing and obviously try and get another positive result against Colchester United.”
