Jacob Greaves capped an exceptional season with a hat-trick of accolades at Hull City’s 2023/24 Player of the Year Awards.
The 23-year-old was crowned the Supporters’ Player of the Year, honoured by his teammates as the Players’ Player of the Year and awarded Player of the Year by head coach Liam Rosenior. The vice-captain has played an instrumental role in City’s play-off push, starting all but three of our 45 league matches and helping keep 11 clean sheets, scoring twice and providing four assists.
Winger Jaden Philogene was named Young Player of the Year by Rosenior after an electric debut campaign. The Tigers’ top scorer has netted 12 goals and contributed six assists in 31 matches, taking more shots and completing more dribbles, key passes and tackles per game than any other player.
Attacking midfielder Ozan Tufan won Goal of the Season, selected on the night, for his spectacular strike against Queens Park Rangers. The 29-year-old curled a sumptuous right-footed strike from outside the box in off the bar – the culmination of a flowing team move in which 10 players touched the ball.
For the second season running, promising defender Stan Ashbee walked away with the Frank Donoghue Academy Player of the Year prize. The 17-year-old Republic of Ireland youth international signed his first professional contract and made his senior debut in the FA Cup replay away to Birmingham City.
Centre-back Alfie Jones earned the PFA Community Champion award in recognition of his support for the Tigers Trust’s Boot Room initiative. The scheme involves reusing and recycling old and unwanted boots to allow people to participate in sport, with the defender making a sizeable donation off his own back.
Tigers Trust’s Josh Barrett received the Community Award for his efforts in supporting local people across Hull and East Yorkshire. Josh is the Trust’s Active Through Football Delivery Officer and works on other projects, including Premier League Kicks, and supervises the mascots on home matchdays.
