Jacob Greaves’ stoppage-time winner secured a fourth win in five matches as Hull City edged past revitalised Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town.
Captaining his hometown club on his 200th career appearance, the centre-back scored his first of two goals when he hooked in a seventh-minute half-volley from a corner.
But the relegation-troubled Terriers, under caretaker boss Jon Worthington for the final time following the appointment of André Breitenreiter, equalised in the 92nd minute when Jack Rudoni arrowed home.
In a remarkable finale, the Tigers immediately went and scored again when Greaves headed home Abdüş Ömür’s precise cross to spark jubilant scenes.
Liam Rosenior made one change from the comeback win at Rotherham United as Ozan Tufan replaced Lewie Coyle, who was named on the bench.
The John Smith’s Stadium has been an unhappy hunting ground for the Tigers, beaten on the last three visits without scoring and winless since the 2012/13 promotion season.
The prospects of ending that barren 11-year run looked promising as Greaves marked his double century by opening his City account for the season inside seven minutes.
Jaden Philogene’s stinging shot from 20 yards was pushed over by Lee Nicholls at the expense of a corner, taken by Anass Zaroury, which Town failed to clear.
Alfie Jones flicked the ball on for centre-back partner Greaves to hook a left-footed half-volley towards the bottom corner which Nicholls got a good hand to but couldn’t keep out.
A misplaced Tyler Morton pass when playing out from the back allowed Josh Koroma a shooting chance midway through the half but his radar was slightly off, curling not far over the bar.
Zaroury pulled a left-footed effort wide from the edge of the box before Koroma, on the turn, also fired off target.
An injury to Morton, who had earlier received treatment, necessitated a reshuffle as Matty Jacob came on at right-back and Regan Slater moved into midfield.
Ryan Allsop was extended for the first time four minutes before the break, flying to his right to palm away Ben Wiles’ crisp 20-yard drive after advancing infield.

City’s custodian was alert again six minutes after half-time – during which Noah Ohio replaced Sharp – as he reacted sharply to a deflection off Jones to keep out Alex Matos’ low near-post strike.
Brahima Diarra pinched possession from Jones as he tried to shepherd the ball over the byline and attempted to round Allsop but Ryan Giles stepped in to clear.
Greg Docherty and Ömür entered the fray on the hour mark but the Tigers were still struggling to find any rhythm, with Delano Burgzorg dragging weakly wide from 18 yards.
The woodwork came to City’s rescue with 19 minutes remaining when Sorba Thomas’ placed finish from Burgzorg’s neat lay-off diverted off Jacob and bounced off the base of the upright.
Coyle came on for Tufan but still the Terriers pushed – Burgzorg spinning away from Philogene before his central shot was spilled by Allsop.
Philogene should have made the points safe in the first minute of stoppage time when he outpaced the last defender before side-footing against the inside of the post.
And that miss looked extremely costly 60 seconds later as Rudoni arrowed a low drive into the bottom corner despite Allsop getting both hands to the ball.
Quite incredibly, City went straight up the other end and Greaves met Ömür’s pinpoint cross with a superb diving header which he directed beyond Nicholls to send the away end into raptures.
