Hull City are delighted to confirm the appointment of Jared Dublin as the club’s new head of recruitment.

The 33-year-old spent six years in Sheffield United’s recruitment department from 2017 to 2023, helping the Blades secure two promotions to the Premier League and record a ninth-place top-flight finish.

The American then worked as head of scouting at Reading and most recently as Stoke City’s head of recruitment.

“I’m pleased to be here and really excited about the journey to come,” said Dublin. “From speaking to Acun and Tan, the ambition of the club is clear for all to see and their passion was a real selling point for me.

“This is an exciting football project with proper ambition and structure in place. There’s real alignment from top to bottom. That was a big part in me deciding this was the right project for me moving forward.

"Promotion is the overall aim and we're going to build to get there. The drive to get there is clear and we're all on the same page. We will aim to build a squad that has the appropriate balance of young, hungry players with Premier League potential and experienced Championship players that can continue to push the club forward.

"I'm expecting an exciting and very busy few weeks, having already secured a few key players last week. Most important is how we can deliver upon the objectives of the head coach and the chairman in the short, medium and long term."

Reflecting on his footballing journey to date, Dublin said: "My experience at Sheffield United has given me great perspective into the Championship, what it takes to get promoted out of this division, and a framework for staying in the Premier League.

"We finished ninth in our first season in the Premier League, signing the likes of Sander Berge from Genk, and building on a strong British core. We then underwent a squad rebuild and the club secured promotion back to the Premier League.

"I worked with some great people during my short time at Reading before joining Stoke, where I had the remit of making the squad more technical and recruiting young players. We signed players with top potential who can become real assets for the club in the next few seasons, the likes of Jun-Ho Bae from Daejeon Hana, Wouter Burger from Basel, and Million Manhoef from Vitesse.

"It's been a fantastic journey thus far but with much more to come – lots of learnings and experience of what it takes to get over the line and how we can build to get there.

“This is an exciting next step in my career and an exciting chapter for Hull City, which I am delighted to be part of. I’m ready to get started with this great group of players and staff, and really kick on this season."

Tan Kesler, the Tigers’ Executive Vice-Chairman, said: “I believe Jared will be one of the key additions we make this summer. The chairman and I were very impressed with his pedigree and also his specific experience of success at this level.

“I’m delighted Jared has agreed to join us on our journey to take this club where it deserves to be and I look forward to working closely with him.”
