Hull City are delighted to announce the permanent signing of young midfielder Harry Vaughan from National League side Oldham Athletic.
The 18-year-old joins the Tigers’ Under-21 set-up on an 18-month contract following a recent trial, with the club holding the option of an extra 12 months.
He played a full 90 minutes in our 2-2 away draw against Birmingham City in the Professional Development League.
Born in Trafford, the former Manchester United youth player made 40 appearances for Oldham Athletic, featuring in League Two, FA Cup, EFL Trophy, EFL Cup and National League.
Capped at Under-19s level for Republic of Ireland, the former Radcliffe loanee registered four assists for Oldham, scoring two goals against Sunderland and Harrogate Town respectively.
“I am over the moon to join. It has been a long process and a quick turnaround and I cannot wait to get started,” said Vaughan.
“I got recalled from my loan and then I went straight up to Hull on trial. It was quick and it is probably the best thing that could have happened. I was straight in with the boys and I fully enjoyed it.
“I’m looking forward to be working with Conor (Sellars) and Richard (Naylor). They gave me confidence in training and were always encouraging me.
“There is a clear pathway for young players to come to Cottingham and train with the first-team and get the opportunity.
“I would say I am creative and technical. I am quite small, but I don’t shy out of a tackle. I am aggressive out of possession and I feel like I am a good dribbler.
“Short term plans, I just want to settle. I think it is important that once you settle, you can play your best football. Once I am settled, I can hopefully kick on and play games for the Under-21s and perform to the best I can.”
