Hull City are delighted to announce the signing of experienced goalkeeper Karl Darlow on loan from Premier League outfit Newcastle United until the end of the season.

The 32-year-old has made over 50 appearances in the Premier League over a nine-year spell with the Magpies since joining in 2014.

Although over half of his appearances for Newcastle have come in the top flight, Darlow’s highlight campaign came in 2016/17 as he kept 13 clean sheets in 34 outings as the Magpies were promoted as Championship winners.

He signed a long-term contract upon his arrival at St James’ Park having joined from Nottingham Forest in a double duel with centre-back Jamaal Lascelles, with the highly rated duo initially being loaned back to the City Ground.

Darlow made over 100 appearances for the Reds, the majority of those coming in the Championship. His time at Forest also involved two brief loan spells at Newport County and Walsall as he built up his experience further down the EFL.

The custodian will now be relishing the chance to compete for a place in Liam Rosenior’s starting line-up back in the Championship.
