Hull City are delighted to announce the signing of Peruvian attacking midfielder Yuriel Celi from Carlos A. Mannucci for an undisclosed fee.

The 20-year-old has penned a two-and-a-half year deal with the Tigers and has been loaned to Club Universitario de Deportes for one year.

Beginning his youth career at La “U” in 2014, the Callao-born midfielder switched to Academia Cantolao in 2017 and progressed through their academy system.

Celi made his senior debut for El Deffin in May 2019, playing the full game in a 1-0 away win over Pirata FC in the Liga 1 Apertura. Making 17 appearances in his debut campaign, featuring in the Liga 1 Apertura, Liga 1 Clausura and Copa Bicentenario, Celi scored his first senior goal against Pirata FC in a 3-0 win in November 2019.

The 20-year-old scored nine goals and registered four assists with Academia Cantolao before he made the switch to Carlos A. Mannucci in 2022.

Making his debut for La Tricolor in February 2022 against FBC Melgar in Liga 1 Apertura, his most notable performance came in a 3-1 away win over Universidad San Martín a month later, scoring twice and registering one assist.

For Carlos A. Mannucci, Celi has scored four goals and registered two assists in 33 appearances, featuring in the Liga 1 Clausura and Liga 1 Apertura.

Internationally, the 20-year-old has represented Peru at Under-17, Under-20, Under-23 and senior level. Captaining the Under-17s on a number of occasions, Celi earned 17 caps and scored five goals at Under-17 level before scoring one goal in four appearances for the Under-20s.

Given his Under-23s debut by ex-Hull City midfielder Nolberto Solano, Celi made 13 appearances at that age group before earning his one and only senior cap in November 2022.

After being an unused substitute in a 1-0 victory over Paraguay three days before, Celi replaced goalscorer Luis Iberico for the final 14 minutes of a 1-0 friendly victory over Bolivia in November 2022.
