Hull City are delighted to announce the loan signing of midfielder Xavier Simons from Premier League side Chelsea.

The defensive midfielder, who can also operate at centre-back and right-back, has joined the Tigers on a season-long loan deal.

The 19-year-old joined Chelsea in 2016 from Brentford’s academy after the Bees made the decision to close their academy programme.

Making over 60 appearances for a variety of Chelsea’s youth teams, the London-born midfielder made his senior debut in an EFL Cup fixture against Brentford in December 2021, where the Blues reigned 2-0 victors.

Captaining the Under-21s a handful of times last season, Simons made 29 appearances at youth level for Chelsea, registering two assists in 20 Premier League 2 appearances.

Featuring four times in the EFL Trophy, the 19-year-old also made five appearances in the UEFA Youth League, scoring his only goal of the season in a 4-2 victory over Swedish side Malmö FF.

Internationally, the midfielder has represented England at Under-15, Under-16, Under-17 and Under-19 level, earning a combined eight caps.
