Hull City can confirm the appointment of Justin Walker as assistant head coach.

The 47-year-old joins from Derby County, where he held the role of first-team development coach and worked alongside new Tigers boss Liam Rosenior.

Walker was promoted to the Rams’ senior coaching set-up ahead of the 2020/21 season, having previously overseen the Under-18s as professional development phase coach for several years.

An experienced coach with a reputation for developing young talent, he guided Derby’s youngsters to the Under-18 Premier League title during the 2018/19 season.

A midfielder during his playing days, Walker made over 400 career appearances for the likes of Scunthorpe United, Lincoln City and Cambridge United.

Walker said: “I’m really excited. It’s brilliant to be here. I had three years working with Liam – he’s a great guy, a great coach and I’m really looking forward to the challenge ahead.

“It’s been good to meet the players and we’re straight into a game (at Millwall). I’ll be looking to help Liam and the other coaches, support the players as best I can, and try to win football matches.”
