The Tigers Trust were delighted to be able to work in partnership with the National Literacy Trust to celebrate World Book Day this year.
World Book Day is a charity event that has been held annually since 1995 that allows children of all ages to come together to share the joy of reading for pleasure.
This year saw the National Literacy Trust provide books and vouchers as incentives for the students to engage them in reading during the day.
Hull City players Alfie Jones and Sean McLoughlin attended the Trust’s Premier League Primary Stars event at Beverley Minster Primary School last Thursday, much to the excitement of the pupils at the school.
The duo handed out vouchers and signed items for the children, while also answering some of the young people’s questions too.
Alex Lisney, who leads the Trust’s Premier League Primary Stars programme, said: “It was a great day and it was fantastic to be able to support and encourage students to read across Hull and East Yorkshire.
“Having the first-team players along really motivated some of the students, creating both an exciting and engaging atmosphere.”
