George Honeyman was left disappointed that the Tigers were unable to build on two solid away performances as they fell to defeat against Luton Town.
Goals from Elijah Adebayo, Harry Cornick and James Bree were enough to secure the Hatters all three points at the MKM Stadium, despite a late consolation from Tom Eaves.
“I feel like we were close to a good performance but at the same time off in every department,” said Honeyman.
“I thought we had decent phases of play without ever really getting a grip on the game. The goals we conceded were really poor. It’s disappointing because we’d had a really good week and we all felt really good coming into the game.”
The Tigers were backed by the biggest home crowd of the season against the Hatters, and Honeyman is hopeful that the team will be able to repay the fans for their support after the international break against Huddersfield Town.
“The club are doing everything to bring the supporters back which is terrific,” said Honeyman.
“We all want as many supporters here as we can. We’ve got a chance (to bounce back) against Huddersfield when we come back (from the international break).
“We’ve got to put on a performance and get them a win. We want to sell-out the stadium and have as many fans here as possible. That’s down to us players at the end of the day on the pitch.”
