Arveladze looking to build on win against Peterborough

4 March 2022

Shota Arveladze is looking for his players to build on their win against Peterborough United in this weekend’s clash against West Bromwich Albion.

The Tigers ended their six-game winless run in the Championship by comfortably beating Posh and will now be hoping to secure back-to-back wins for the first time since January.

“We’ve won once (at home) against Swansea City which was a very tough, difficult game but a great win,” said Arveladze.

“We didn’t pick up a good result in our next few home games. We’re looking forward to playing in front of our supporters and doing the same as we did last weekend (against Peterborough).”

One player who impressed against Peterborough was Tyler Smith, and Arveladze was delighted to see the 23-year-old striker net his first league goal for the Tigers.

“He came out and worked hard (against Peterborough) both offensively and defensively,” added Arveladze.

“He scored the most important goal (in the game). It was his first goal in the league (for Hull City) and it’s one he’ll remember for life.”

Although West Brom come into this weekend’s game on a seven-game winless run in the Championship, Arveladze insists his players will not underestimate Steve Bruce’s Baggies.

“We shouldn't look at their results because they have a very experienced coach and a very experienced team,” explained Arveladze.

“They’re a team who know how to come out and show character and know what is necessary to win a game. We’ll treat them with full respect. We’re looking forward to the game.”
