Hull City to head to Türkiye and Spain in pre-season

30 June 2022

Hull City will head to Türkiye and Spain in pre-season as preparations ramp up ahead of the new campaign.

Flying out to Istanbul on Friday 8th July, our first pre-season friendly will take place on Sunday 10th July against Turkish giants Fenerbahçe at the Sakarya Atatürk Stadium in Adapazarı, kick-off 6:30pm.

The following day, the Tigers will jet off to southern Spain for a seven-day warm-weather training camp at the renowned Marbella Football Centre on the Costa del Sol.

We will play two matches at the facility on Saturday 16th July, the first behind closed doors against Brighton and Hove Albion’s Under-23s at 9:30am and the second against Spanish Segunda División side Málaga at 5:30pm.

Shota Arveladze’s men will return to East Yorkshire on Sunday 17th July ahead of our first friendlies on these shores.

Fenerbahçe finished runners-up in the Süper Lig last season and are one of the most popular and decorated clubs in Türkiye with 28 top-flight titles, the most recent in 2013/14.

We have played the Yellow Canaries once before, in a floodlit friendly at Boothferry Park in October 1953, which the Istanbul heavyweights won 2-1 despite a goal from Terry Murray.

Champions League quarter-finalists in 2012/13, Málaga narrowly avoided relegation from Spain’s second tier after placing 18th last term, their fourth consecutive season outside La Liga.
