Young defender Andy Smith has penned a new contract with Hull City and joined League Two newcomers Grimsby Town on loan for the 2022/23 season.
The Banbury-born centre-back, who progressed through the Tigers’ academy from Under-9s, has signed a new two-year deal with City, with the club holding the option of an extra year.
Making two appearances for the Tigers, the 20-year-old spent the first half of last season on loan at Salford City before making the temporary switch to Blundell Park in January.
Making 16 appearances for the Mariners, netting in the 2-2 draw against Barnet, Smith helped Town win promotion back to the EFL via the play-offs.
We would like to wish Andy and Grimsby all the best for the upcoming season.
