Eaves determined to retain his place in the team

21 January 2022

Tom Eaves is determined to retain his place in the team ahead of this weekend’s trip to AFC Bournemouth.

The 30-year-old striker has started three consecutive games for the Tigers and has picked up a lot of plaudits for his performances.

“It’s really nice,” said Eaves when asked about the praise he has received.

“It would be nice to get a consecutive run of games for myself because I don’t think I’ve had that since I first came to the club. That’s probably down to things like injuries and the form of others.

“I think the only way you can really get any sort of consistency at all is by playing regularly. I’m trying to take each game as it comes. My main aim is to stay in the team and play as many games as possible and get some form going.”

After netting his second goal of the season in midweek against Blackburn Rovers, Eaves will be looking to add to his tally against Bournemouth, and is hopeful that the team will take a lot of confidence from their performance against Rovers.

“The gaffer got the tactics absolutely spot on the other night,” added Eaves.

“I feel like we executed the plan well and got the result. I hope that shows us what we can do when we’re working together as a team. It was just really enjoyable and there was a lot of togetherness and unity in that performance.”
