Fleming ‘buzzing’ to be back involved

18 February 2022

Defender Brandon Fleming says he is ‘buzzing’ to be back in the team as preparations continue for this weekend’s trip to Queens Park Rangers.

The 22-year-old left-back has started all five games under the management of Shota Arveladze, and has impressed with his performances.

“I’m buzzing (to be back in the team),” explained Fleming.

“The games have been coming thick and fast and they couldn’t have come at a better time for me. I just want to get onto the next one and rack the games up.

“I think I’ve done well but it’s only six games (since his return against Bournemouth).”

Fleming helped the Tigers end their run of three consecutive defeats in the Championship by battling to secure a goalless draw against Sheffield United.

Following that result at Bramall Lane, City are now 12 points clear of the relegation zone, and Fleming says he has now set his sights on the teams further up the league table.

“I like to look up the table rather than down,” added Fleming.

“I think we’ve got to look forward to the games we’ve got coming up and get as many points as we can. Our focus is just to climb the table rather than worrying about the teams behind us.

“We’ve got teams to catch above us and it would be nice to get a good run going and get as high up the table as we can.”

Next on the agenda for the Tigers is a trip to the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium to face QPR, and Fleming says the team will be looking for a similar performance to the one that saw them pick up a point in Sheffield.

“They’re similar to Sheffield United in the way that they set-up,” said Fleming.

“We know what to expect against a team like QPR. They showed what they’re about against us earlier in the season.

“We’ll go there and look to frustrate them as we did Sheffield United.”
