Shota Arveladze has confirmed defender Lewie Coyle is set for a ‘few weeks’ on the sidelines after hobbling off with a hamstring injury against Sheffield United.
The 26-year-old right-back had started the last three games for the Tigers, and will find out the full extent of his injury after a scan this afternoon (Thursday).
“Coyle (is our only fresh injury) after he left the game after 19 minutes (against Sheffield United),” revealed Arveladze.
“We know he’s out (for Saturday) but will know exactly how long he’s going to be out this afternoon after he’s done his MRI.
“He’s a strong boy. He was slightly better today but we know he’s out for a few weeks because it’s a hamstring injury and he can’t do much on it.
“All players want to play and be fit. He struggled for quite a long time to return (from his last injury). He’s been great for us and has made us stronger defensively.”
Arveladze did have some positive news to deliver on the fitness of Mallik Wilks, who is in contention to return to the squad for this weekend’s trip to Queens Park Rangers.
“He’s training with the group,” said Arveladze.
“He trained today (Thursday) and doesn’t look bad, but he’s been out for weeks. We’ll decide tomorrow whether he’s going to be with us or not.”
