Arveladze looking for a response against Fulham

11 February 2022

Head coach Shota Arveladze is looking for a response from his players as preparations continue for tomorrow’s game against league leaders Fulham.

The Tigers have suffered back-to-back defeats against Preston North End and Derby County in the Championship, but Arveladze says his players have reacted well in training.

“In football, you have to look forward,” said Arveladze.

“You have to get as much (information) as you can from the previous games. We haven’t had much time again for training sessions (in between games).

“It was disappointing (against Derby). We definitely have to improve. They’re reacting well and they’ve shown that in training, and I’m hoping they’ll also show that in the game.”

It does not get any easier for the Tigers, with Marco Silva’s Cottagers next to visit the MKM Stadium. With the likes of 30-goal Aleksandar Mitrovic in their ranks, the Cottagers have been the standout team so far this season in the Championship, and Arveladze is under no illusions about how difficult a game it will be.

“If you look at the goals they score, the way they play and the points they have, then you have to say they’re the best team in the league at the moment,” added Arveladze.

“They’re a complete team. I don’t know how long they’ve played together but they are well organised and understand each other. They are playing attractive football.”
