Shota Arveladze felt there was plenty his side could take from the slender 1-0 defeat to league leaders Fulham.
Championship top scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic’s 31st goal of the season – a glancing header from Neco Williams’ pinpoint cross 12 minutes into the second half – settled a tight affair at the MKM Stadium.
“We are all disappointed because if we had got the point, I believe everyone would say we deserved it,” said Arveladze.
“This is football and we played against the best team in the league – they’re the best goalscorers in the league if you see the numbers.
“They’re quick in their play and they understand each other. I think this team have played quite long together.
“We tried to stop them, we tried to defend as a team, we tried to attack as a team, which made me happy.
“Today was definitely a day I’m proud of the boys – give them credit for their effort.
“It was very cold and wet weather and the supporters came and supported us and saw a good football game – both teams tried to play nice and attractive football.
“We’ve been the side who lost the game but there’s a lot to take from this game in the future.”
Arveladze confirmed Tom Eaves missed out through a foot injury and Allahyar Sayyadmanesh was absent with a groin problem, while Nathan Baxter still has an issue with his left hand.
