By Hull City

We are delighted to announce that Andy Dawson has become the next legend to be inducted into the Hull City Hall of Fame.

The long-serving left-back was instrumental in the Tigers’ rapid rise from the fourth tier to the Premier League during the 2000s, making 317 appearances in 10 distinguished years at the MKM Stadium.

Signed by Peter Taylor on a free transfer from Scunthorpe United in May 2003, Dawson made an immediate impact as he helped secure back-to-back promotions to the Championship in his first two seasons.

A tenacious tackler and accomplished set-piece taker, the fans’ favourite was an integral part of the 2007/08 vintage that achieved a historic first promotion to the top flight.

The City stalwart made 60 Premier League appearances and is one of four players to have represented the club in England’s top four divisions, along with Ian Ashbee, Ryan France and Boaz Myhill.

Dawson captained the side on numerous occasions and added a fourth promotion to his glittering City CV in 2012/13, earning a testimonial match for his decade of service in August 2013.

After six years back at Scunthorpe, he returned to East Yorkshire as lead professional development phase coach in September 2019 and spent three years nurturing the next generation of academy talent.

He was promoted to his current position of first-team coach ahead of this season and took interim charge following Shota Arveladze’s departure, steadying the ship prior to Liam Rosenior’s arrival.

Dawson becomes the ninth member of our Hall of Fame having received 36.83% of the fan vote, edging out Raich Carter (34.32%) and Nick Barmby (28.85%).

Thank you to everyone who took the time to take part in this year’s Hall of Fame vote.
