Hull City can confirm the departure of forward Mallik Wilks to League One side Sheffield Wednesday for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old scored 30 goals in 91 appearances during a two-and-a-half-year spell with the Tigers.

Signed on loan from Barnsley in January 2020, a move that was made permanent six months later, Wilks notched five goals in his first half-season at the MKM Stadium.

He played an integral role in our 2020/21 League One title triumph, finishing as top scorer with 22 goals in all competitions – 19 in the league – and providing a further nine assists.

Netting his first career hat-trick in a 5-0 thrashing of Wigan Athletic, Wilks converted the penalty that secured our promotion back to the Championship in a 2-1 victory at Lincoln City.

He bagged three goals in 20 matches last campaign and featured twice this term, with his final City strike mirroring his first – an equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Reading.

The former Doncaster Rovers man joins an Owls team targeting promotion under Darren Moore, having picked up 10 points from their opening five fixtures.

We would like to thank Mallik for his efforts and contribution to the club, particularly during our title-winning season, and wish him well for the future.
