Sani: It’s good to help the team

2 August 2022

Second-year scholar Glen Sani says he was happy to help the team as the Under-18s defeated Boston United 4-0.

The forward netted all four goals as the Tigers won their penultimate pre-season fixture at Bishop Burton College.

“It’s good to get a few goals and help the team get the win,” said Sani.

“I couldn’t really ask for much more. We were solid at the back and kept the clean sheet and we were clinical upfront.

“For myself, this performance has reminded me of what I’m capable of and hopefully I can take that confidence into this season and show everyone what I can do.

“It was a weight off my shoulders, because the more you go on without a goal, the more tense it becomes so it was good to finally get a few goals after a difficult season last year with injury.”

Speaking about his finishes, Sani was extremely thankful for first-year scholar Harry Spence for assisting three of his goals in the fixture, as the Under-18s look to end pre-season with another win on Saturday against Middlesbrough.

“I think with the first goal, I was quite fortunate for it to hit both posts and go in!” joked Sani.

“With the second goal I think it was good movement in behind and a good ball from Harry Spence, which was one of three assists for him as well, and I latched onto it and finished it.

“The other two that were assisted by Harry were good balls into the box and I was alive to tap them both in. I was happy for him for getting a few assists.

“We now need to take the momentum that we gained from this result into Saturday against Middlesbrough and just kick on from there and be ready to start the season away against Bristol City in a few weeks’ time.”
