Arveladze’s Millwall Reaction

18 April 2022

Shota Arveladze felt his team were too nice in the 2-1 Easter Monday defeat at play-off chasing Millwall.

Two goals in four second-half minutes from Scott Malone and Tom Bradshaw ended the Tigers’ six-match unbeaten run, with Tom Eaves halving the deficit late on.

“Sometimes you cannot be soft, be nice,” said Arveladze. “You can play nice but you cannot be nice.

“The positive attitude we have – not giving up, play again, until the last minute – this is all positive, which is great, but we have to work on be nice a little bit.

“Get the second ball, don’t let the ball bounce when the goalie is kicking and it just bounces in front of you. You have to react on the second (ball), get this ball before the bounce.

“I cannot blame the boys on not giving everything – they do. We lost physical game today.

“We played the first half more, looking better. Second half we couldn’t keep this (up) and that’s cost us the game.”

Arveladze confirmed Brandon Fleming was rested for the trip to The Den.
