Eaves Delighted To Make An Impact

29 September 2021

Tom Eaves was delighted to help the team gain a hard-earned point against Blackpool.

The forward connected with Keane Lewis-Potter’s pass to score the equaliser six minutes from time to secure a draw.

“I’m really happy to score the goal and help the team,” said Eaves.

“I’ve not had a lot of minutes this season, but I’m working as hard as I can both on and off the pitch and I was delighted to come on and score.

“Obviously, we wanted all three points and their goalkeeper made a great save from Tyler Smith’s shot near the end.

“It felt like the longest five minutes of stoppage time, but we dug in well with ten men and earned a deserved point.”

The 29-year-old was quick to heap praise on the fans who sung his name loudly when replacing Andy Cannon in the 77th minute as he sets his sights on Middlesbrough on Saturday.

“It felt amazing hearing the fans singing my name,” added Eaves.

“Hearing them chanting about me is hard to put into words. If only we could have got the winner at the end for them as it would have been extra special.

“We’ve got a point from this game and we know it’s time to start putting the points on the board, starting against Middlesbrough.”
