Docherty: 'We’ve Got To Keep Pushing'

27 September 2021

Greg Docherty says the team have got to keep pushing to try and turn their form around after the 2-0 away defeat against Stoke City.

Goals from Mario Vrancic and Nick Powell either side of half-time sealed all three points for the hosts at the bet365 Stadium.

“It’s another frustrating one of us,” said Docherty.

“I thought we started the game well and they were starting to get frustrated.

“We were on top for large spells and then we got done by a counter-attack which was a sucker punch.

“It seems to be the story of our season at the minute.

“When we’re on top in games, we’re not punishing teams.”

The midfielder returned to the starting line-up after missing the game against Sheffield United with a hamstring injury, and says the team have got to look ahead to the two home games coming up this week against Blackpool and Middlesbrough.

“It’s a real sour one for us to take, but we’ve got to rectify it,” added Docherty.

“We’ve got to keep pushing and get points on the board.

“We’re just not being ruthless or taking the initiative when we’re on top which is ultimately costing us.”
