Grant McCann says that Greg Docherty and Alfie Jones could return to the squad for Hull City’s Championship fixture against Stoke City.
Docherty missed out on last weekend’s defeat to Sheffield United with a hamstring injury, while Jones hasn’t featured since mid-August against Derby County due to his struggles with a thigh injury.
However, McCann says that a couple of important first-team players have picked up knocks during the week.
“We’ve picked up a couple of knocks which is a bit of a concern for us,” McCann said.
“We’re trying to give those players as much time as possible to get fit for the weekend.
“We’ve got a couple of important players nursing these knocks, so we’ll see where they are.
“The pleasing thing for us is that Greg Docherty has trained for the last couple of days.
“Alfie Jones has also had a good week of training.
“Greg trained with the conditioning coaches earlier this week to try and get his high speed running and sprint distance up.
“He’s joined in with us for the last couple of days and is in a better place.
“Alfie has had a really good week of training.
“He started training last Friday, but we felt it was too soon to bring him in for the game against Sheffield United.”
