Second-year scholar Alfie Taylor says he and the team will learn from the Under-23s' 2-0 defeat against Sheffield United.
Goals in each half from Zak Brunt and Regan Slater condemned the Tigers to defeat at the LNER Community Stadium.
“I thought Sheffield United were better than us throughout the game,” said Taylor.
“Every 50/50, they came out with and we were just off it. They were playing through us and we just couldn’t recover out of possession.
“We did have spells of possession but we sadly didn’t have that final edge to us, while they were more clinical with their passing and took their chances when they came.
“It was a good learning experience for me and the team. Sheffield United are a very good side and they had a lot of experienced players featuring like Regan Slater. We are a young squad, but I still think we could have done much better as I know we have the quality.
“We are a better team than what we showed so we need to learn and be ready for the Wigan fixture.”
