McCann Looks Ahead To Visit Of Coventry

29 October 2021

Grant McCann says his players are looking forward to the test of coming up against high-flying Coventry City at the MKM Stadium.

The Tigers were beaten by Luton Town at Kenilworth Road just under a week ago, while Coventry were held to a draw by Derby County at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

“They look stronger this season - Mark (Robins) has done a fantastic job there,” said McCann.

“He’s taken them from League Two to the Championship. They have found their feet very well this season.

“They are energetic and like to play on the front foot. They’ve got goals in their team and they’re playing with confidence. It’s something that we want to get to. We’re working towards that. We want to try and improve in what we’re doing.

“We know they’re a good team and it’s going to be a good test for us at home, but we want to try and make sure that we take the game to them.”

Ahead of this weekend’s game against the Sky Blues, the team trained in front of 1,000 supporters at the MKM Stadium as the club hosted an open training session, and McCann says this has given his players an important boost.

“It’s been a really positive week,” McCann added.

“Tuesday was a really good day for us. The supporters came and enjoyed seeing us train and getting to meet the players afterwards in the concourse.

“We just want to make the supporters happy and try and perform and get the right results. It was good to see so many people come out and support us. The fans were great and the players really appreciated that. It was a good day for us all.”
