Grant McCann has revealed that defender Alfie Jones is edging closer to a return from injury, but won’t be risked against Coventry City.
The 24-year-old centre-back returned to the team at the end of September, but limped off just before half-time against Middlesbrough earlier this month.
Asked whether he has got any fresh injury concerns following the defeat against Luton Town, McCann said: “Not from the last game.
“Obviously Tom Huddlestone and Brandon Fleming are on the road to recovery.
“Alfie Jones joined in with some of the session today (Thursday). He’d be a bit of a risk for Saturday, but he could come into contention for West Brom or Barnsley.
“Apart from that, everybody else is fine.
“Alfie had a modified session. He hasn’t trained with us for three or four weeks. It was his first session back with us today. It’s just making sure that we don’t overcook him too early and we keep him right for the rest of the season.”
