Hull City are delighted to announce that Academy prospect Jevon Mills has signed his first professional contract with the club.
The 18-year-old defender has featured heavily for both the Under-18s and Under-23s this season and has been rewarded with a two-year deal, with the Club holding an option of another year.
“I’m absolutely delighted to sign my first professional deal,” said Mills.
“I’ve been working hard for it throughout my life and getting to sign it early in my scholarship is good for me.
“My family and friends are over the moon about it. When I told my mum she didn’t believe me and I had to tell her again and she screamed! Everyone is really happy for me and hopefully I can push on to get my next one.
“I want to thank all the coaches for helping me get this. John (Anderson), Richard (Naylor) and Andy (Dawson) have all been great with me and they have all played at the highest level which is good for me when learning how to improve and develop my own game.”
Mills has been with the Academy since Under-13s level and was recently called up to represent the Republic of Ireland Under-19s as they prepare for their UEFA European qualifiers in Bulgaria.
“It’s great playing international football,” added Mills.
“The standard is high and I’ve got to make sure I’m not just there as a number, but as part of the team and overall it’s great.
“Hopefully, I can go the qualifiers in November and I’ll be working extremely hard to do that, but I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing and hopefully play more minutes at Hull City either for the Under-18s or the Under-23s.”
