1 November 2021

We take a look at how some of our young players got on in our loan watch.

Tom Macauley at Hall Road Rangers:

Second-year scholar Tom Macauley has been playing regularly while out on work experience with NCEL Division One outfit Hall Road Rangers. The goalkeeper played the full game as Hall Road secured an impressive 4-1 win away at Retford FC.

Callum Jones at Morecambe:

The midfielder made his eighth appearance in all competitions for Morecambe as they suffered a 3-1 defeat away to Oxford United. Jones played 83 minutes before being replaced by Freddie Price, with the Shrimps currently sitting 19th in the League One table.

Festus Arthur at Barrow:

The German-born defender came on as a second-half substitute as Barrow suffered a 2-1 defeat against Rochdale. Arthur replaced Mark Ellis in the 74th minute as a brace from Jake Beesley gave Rochdale all three points in League Two.

Matty Jacob at Gateshead:

Two goals in two minutes condemned Gateshead to a 2-0 defeat against AFC Fylde in the National League North. Matty Jacob played 62 minutes of the fixture before being replaced by Ryan Wombwell.

Billy Chadwick & Ahmed Salam at Linfield FC:

The Hull-born duo both came off the bench in the 89th minute as Linfield defeated Dungannon Swifts 3-0. The result helped maintain the Blues’ unbeaten run in the NIFL Premiership.

Harry Wood at Scunthorpe United:

Harry Wood was an unused substitute as the Iron suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat against Colchester United. The midfielder has currently made eight appearances in all competitions for Scunthorpe.

Andy Smith at Salford City:

Currently sitting in 19th position in League Two, Salford City suffered a 2-1 defeat against high-flying Exeter City. Smith was an unused substitute in the fixture against the Grecians as the defender patiently waits for his league debut.

James Scott at Hibernian:

Scotland Under-21 international James Scott wasn’t involved in the matchday squad in Hibernian’s last game, as they suffered a 3-1 defeat against second-placed Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

Jake Leake & Harvey Cartwright at Boston United & Gainsborough Trinity:

Full-back Jake Leake and goalkeeper Harvey Cartwright have concluded their loan deals with Boston United and Gainsborough Trinity respectively. Leake featured for the Under-23s in a mid-season friendly victory against North Ferriby FC, while Cartwright has featured on the bench in the Tigers’ Sky Bet Championship fixtures against Luton Town and Coventry City.
