Grant McCann has confirmed that defender Alfie Jones is set for another spell on the sidelines after coming off injured in midweek.
The 24-year-old returned to the starting line-up against West Bromwich Albion, before he was forced off with another hamstring injury after 17 minutes.
McCann said: “We’re really frustrated for Alfie.
“We’ve had the results back from the scan and it doesn’t look great. He’s torn another part of his hamstring further up. He’s also damaged the previous part of his hamstring (which kept him out last time).
“It’s not great news for him and I’m really disappointed because he’s worked so hard to get back. We’ve actually taken our time with him to get him back. It’s just so unlucky for him.
“He picked up the injury in his first sprint of the game (against West Brom). It’s disappointing news for him and us.
“It’s very difficult to give a timescale (on his recovery) because it’s such a complex injury.”
Apart from Jones, McCann confirmed that the rest of his squad came through the game against West Brom unscathed.
“There were a few bumps and bruises but nothing that is going to keep anyone out of the game on Saturday (against Barnsley).”
