Callum Elder, Josh Magennis, Harvey Cartwright and Sincere Hall have all been called up to represent their countries over the two-week international break.
Elder will be hoping to feature in Australia’s first match on home soil in over two years as the Socceroos take on Saudi Arabia at the Western Sydney Stadium, before his country then visit China. The Socceroos are hoping that two positive results will go a long way to securing a historic fifth consecutive qualification for the World Cup.
As for Magennis, he will be looking to help Northern Ireland recover from the disappointment of their quest to qualify for next year’s World Cup coming to an end during the last international break. The Green and White Army are in action against Lithuania and European champions Italy this time round.
Elsewhere, Harvey Cartwright will be hoping to represent the Three Lions as England Under-20s face Portugal Under-20s. The young goalkeeper enjoyed a successful loan spell at Gainsborough Trinity earlier this season, before featuring on the bench for the Tigers on a number of occasions over the last few weeks.
Speaking on Cartwright’s recent call-up, manager Grant McCann said: “He’s a very good young goalkeeper.
“We’re really pleased for Harvey. He’s developing all the time and he’s looking strong. He’s going to have a massive future in the game.”
Finally, Under-18 midfielder Sincere Hall has already been in action for Bermuda Under-20s. He scored his country’s second goal in their 3-0 win against St Vincent and the Grenadines Under-20s earlier this week, having also featured in their 3-2 win against Barbados Under-20s.
