FC Humber United 2-8 Hull City U23s: Match Report

17 November 2021

Hull City Academy produced a clinical and professional performance to progress in the East Riding Senior Cup, defeating FC Humber United 8-2 at the Roy West Centre. Braces from McCauley Snelgrove and Louis Beckett, an own goal and finishes from Will Jarvis, Harry Lovick and Josh Hinds secured the victory for the young Tigers.

Hull City created great opportunities in the opening exchanges as Beckett and Hinds both fired chances off target, before Jarvis hit the woodwork with a powerful effort. The forward volleyed over minutes later from Leach’s teasing cross, before Snelgrove opened the scoring on the 17th minute with a well-placed finish. Four minutes later and the Tigers doubled their lead as Ben Clowes diverted into his own net, after Hinds saw his initial effort saved by James Alderson.

The FC Humber goalkeeper was then tested by both Jarvis and Oliver Green, while Beckett and Hinds both fired chances over the bar. United pulled a goal back through Craig Allen, before Jarvis restored the Tigers’ two goal lead after dispatching a composed finish past Alderson.

A minute later and the Tigers had four as Lovick’s drive took a deflection to find the back of the net. The hosts managed to score a second before half-time as Szymon Czubik curled a long-range effort into the far corner.

In the second half, both Jack Gascoigne and Brandon Burke fired chances off-target for FC Humber, before Hinds scored the Tigers’ fifth with a clinical one-on-one finish. Eight minutes later and Beckett scored the Tigers’ sixth as he converted from close-range after a great passing move.

The Tigers searched for more goals as Jarvis tested Alderson from range, before Beckett secured his brace just past the hour mark as he met Henry Curtis’ low cross at the back post. Substitute Jake Brown then drilled an effort narrowly wide, while Alderson pushed away Hinds’ dipping free-kick.

With two minutes left to play, Snelgrove secured his brace and the Tigers’ eighth as he placed his effort into the bottom corner, after a great initial pass by Brown.
