Hull City Under-18 Jevon Mills was impressed with the character the team showed to come from behind twice to secure all three points in the Professional Development League.
A hat-trick from McCauley Snelgrove and goal from Louis Beckett sealed a 4-3 victory against Crewe Alexandra at Alexandra Park.
“I’m delighted with the win,” said Mills.
“In the first half, Crewe managed to break our press very well and they kept the ball moving very well. In the second half, we started to anticipate where they were going to play and we started to win the ball high up and that’s where our goals came from.
“We showed great character to come back. In the last couple of weeks, when we have been behind, our heads have maybe gone down, but we kept on top of it and we kept our heads high and we played well.”
The defender was quick to heap praise on hat-trick hero McCauley Snelgrove, as well as focus on the areas for improvements as they prepare to face Cardiff City next week.
“McCauley (Snelgrove) is good to have in the team and it’s good for him to get his name on the scoresheet, even if I did help him with one of them with the penalty,” added Mills.
“We can always work on everything in training to be better at it. We can work on defending crosses a bit better, because two goals came from corners today.
“From what I’ve watched of Cardiff City, they look like a well-organised side, so we’ve got to be switched on if we want to get a result.”
