Hull City Under-18s winger Billy Leach admitted it was difficult for the team to get any sort of rhythm to their play in the 3-0 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday.
An Alex Bonnington hat-trick condemned the Tigers to defeat in the Under-18 Professional Development League.
“I think there was too many turnovers in the game,” said Leach.
“We didn’t create enough chances in the first half and we didn’t get as many shots off as we usually do.
“At half-time, John (Anderson) and Matt (Hare) spoke to us about tidying up our play and needing runners further forward, as well as winning both first and second balls to try and get back into the game.
“In the second half, we pushed on and we started to get back into the game, but we needed to be more ruthless in the final third. It was disappointing to concede a third goal at the end as I thought we were on top for the majority of the second half.
“Sheffield Wednesday were a good side and we’ll learn from this defeat as we need to push on, learn what we did wrong and improve for next week for the Barnsley fixture.”
