Anderson on U18’s Coventry Defeat

7 March 2021

Hull City Under-18 Manager John Anderson said the better team won after his side suffered a 4-0 defeat against Coventry City.

A brace from Sam Pitts-Eckersall and goals from a trialist and George Burroughs condemned the Tigers to defeat at Bishop Burton College.

On the defeat…

“We’re disappointed with the performance. After a good win on Tuesday we were hoping to kick on again, but the better team won. I thought Coventry pressed with more aggression and they won more first and second balls and when it came to playing in the attacking half, they were better than us. We never really got going at all and we didn’t press with any intensity and it was just a bad afternoon.

“We spoke to the boys at the end about the fact that we are conceding far too many goals at the minute and it’s something that we need to address, because in our last three games, we’ve conceded 12 goals which is far too many.”

Snelgrove & Jarvis Contracts…

“We’re delighted that McCauley (Snelgrove) and Will (Jarvis) have signed professional deals. It’s great for both of them and they’ve been here for a number of years so it’s good to see, but the hard work starts now for them. They’ve now got to kick on and try and get into that next level.”

Nottingham Forest Preview…

“Although we beat them earlier this season, (4-2 victory in November) we thought they were a very good side and especially with them being at home and having that advantage, we wont expect anything else but a really, really tough game.”
