Hull City are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder George Moncur on a two-year deal, with a Club option of a further year.
The 27-year-old, who has spent the last two-and-a-half years with Luton and made 83 appearances at Championship level, becomes the Tigers’ first signing of the summer.
Swindon-born Moncur penned his first professional contract with West Ham and had loan spells with AFC Wimbledon, Partick Thistle and Colchester, whom he joined permanently in November 2014.
Scoring 23 goals in 97 matches for the U’s, he completed a £500,000 move to Barnsley and spent the first half of 2016/17 on loan at Peterborough under Tigers boss Grant McCann.
The former England youth international made 78 appearances for the Tykes before leaving for Luton midway through the 2018/19 campaign.
Six goals in 14 matches helped the Hatters win the League One title, with Barnsley placing runners-up, earning Moncur two promotions from the same division in the same season.
The last two campaigns have seen him rack up 37 Championship appearances, including 20 last term as Nathan Jones’ side finished in a creditable 12th place.
McCann said: “We’re delighted to have brought George to the Club. There was a lot of competition for his signature and I worked with him for a brief period at Peterborough.
“George is a bubbly character and his nature and attitude will fit into our group, and he will complement the attacking players in our team.
“He’s very attack-minded and travels with the ball at speed. He can play in any of the front three positions or as a 10, and loves to take the ball off his back foot and get at people.
“He knows what it takes to win having achieved promotions in his career and he was part of a successful Luton team last year in the Championship.”
